Books: This year, I read a few more books than my usual count (zero). Minor Feelings by Cathy Park Hong was interesting, but some of the essays were a bit too nuanced and angsty for me (although those are exactly the feelings she is trying to describe). I thought The Leavers was going to be a familiar story about growing up in Chinatown and moving to the suburbs, but it's more about the complexity of perspectives in trans-racial adoption—it was fantastic and gave me a lot to think about. I’m halfway through The Warmth of Other Suns by Isabel Wilkerson. I’ve also heard really good things about Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu. Also, the other “Ruins of Nostalgia” poems by Donna Stonecipher are pretty good…
